Kirrikin Joins Women’s Majlis in Riyadh:
A Celebration of Culture, Fashion and Women's Leadership
It was an incredible honour to participate in the Women’s Majlis Suhoor at the Australian Embassy in Riyadh, an event that celebrated International Women’s Day by shining a spotlight on women’s leadership, fashion and cultural exchange.
Hosted by Kim Ralston, Deputy Head of Mission at the Australian Embassy, and her outstanding team, the gathering brought together some of Saudi Arabia’s most accomplished women, offering a rare opportunity to share experiences, learn from one another and celebrate the inspiring contributions women are making across industries.
The evening featured insightful discussions focused on how women across cultures are embracing tradition, creativity and fashion as vehicles for storytelling and empowerment. I was honoured to share Kirrikin’s story alongside Saudi designer Honayda Serafi, where we spoke about the role fashion plays in preserving cultural identity, while opening new pathways for women in both business and the creative arts.
This Women’s Majlis was not only a celebration of women’s leadership but also a powerful reminder of the universal language of art, creativity and culture. The energy in the room reflected the passion and resilience of women who are making significant contributions across diverse fields, whether in fashion, business, or community leadership.
A special highlight was seeing the beautiful designs of Kirrikin represented at the event, with attendees embracing the spirit of cultural connection through fashion that carries story and meaning.
I extend my heartfelt thanks to Kim Ralston, the Australian Embassy team, and all of the incredible women who attended for creating such a warm, inspiring and memorable evening of dialogue, connection and shared celebration.
As Kirrikin continues its global journey, these moments of cultural exchange remind us of the importance of international collaboration in elevating Indigenous design and celebrating women’s voices worldwide.
We look forward to many more opportunities to connect, share and inspire.
