Fashion has the power to bring people together, build confidence and tell stories that deserve to be seen.
In partnership with the Shire of East Pilbara, Kirrikin was honoured to bring its Travelling Runway to Newman, creating an unforgettable celebration of Aboriginal fashion, community and culture.
The event showcased 19 incredible women, each proudly wearing Kirrikin designs inspired by the stories, landscapes and artwork of First Nations artists from across Australia.
More Than a Fashion Show
The Travelling Runway is about far more than clothing.
It is about creating opportunities for women to feel confident, connect with one another and celebrate culture through contemporary Australian fashion.
Many of the women had never met before stepping behind the scenes. By the end of the event, they had formed new friendships, shared laughter and walked the runway with confidence and pride.
Watching their transformation throughout the experience was one of the most rewarding parts of the event.
Celebrating the Pilbara Through Fashion
Hosting the Travelling Runway in Newman was especially meaningful.
The Pilbara is home to extraordinary landscapes, rich Aboriginal culture and talented artists whose stories inspire several Kirrikin collections.
As each woman walked the runway, she wasn't simply wearing a garment. She was wearing wearable art that honoured Country, culture and the artists behind every design.
From elegant silk scarves and luxurious bomber jackets to beautifully tailored dresses and statement pieces, every look reflected Kirrikin's commitment to creating fashion with purpose.
Building Confidence and Community
One of the most powerful moments of the day happened away from the runway.
Women who had arrived as strangers left feeling connected, supported and empowered.
The Travelling Runway creates a welcoming space where women of all backgrounds can celebrate individuality, embrace confidence and experience the joy of being part of something bigger than themselves.
These shared experiences are what make each event so memorable.
