Kirrikin Designs Australia Pavilion Uniforms for World Expo 2025 Osaka

Kirrikin is proud to announce our partnership with the Australia Pavilion at World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, designing the official staff uniforms that will represent Australia on the global stage.

With just days until the World Expo opens, the new uniforms have been unveiled — a stunning showcase of First Nations design, storytelling, and sustainability.

A Collaboration Celebrating Culture and Country

The uniforms were designed by Kirrikin, a 100% Aboriginal-owned social enterprise based in Western Australia, in collaboration with Noongar artist Buffie Punch. Together, the team created vibrant, meaningful designs inspired by the natural beauty of Australia and the deep connection Aboriginal people have to Country.

Each piece features motifs of iconic Australian flora — including the golden wattle, banksia, and eucalyptus blossoms — symbolising resilience, diversity, and the richness of the Australian landscape. The designs reflect Kirrikin’s ongoing mission: to preserve and promote Aboriginal art through luxury design while creating sustainable economic opportunities for First Nations artists and communities.

“Chasing the Sun” — The Spirit of the Pavilion

The uniform designs also draw inspiration from the Australia Pavilion’s theme, “Chasing the Sun,” and incorporate elements from its award-winning logo, designed by Indigenous-owned creative studio Balarinji.

Just like the eucalyptus tree — a symbol of adaptability and strength — these designs embody the diversity and dynamism of the Australian people, connecting art, culture, and innovation in one story-driven aesthetic.

Sustainable by Design

Reflecting both Kirrikin’s and the Pavilion’s shared commitment to sustainability, the uniforms are made from 100% recycled materials, reinforcing Australia’s dedication to environmentally conscious design and ethical production.

Words from the Creators

“Kirrikin is now 11 years old, and this will be our highest-profile project to date,”
says Amanda Healy, Executive Director and Founder of Kirrikin.

“We’re so proud to be 100% Aboriginal-owned and to see our artwork and designs represented on the international stage. Kirrikin’s purpose is to create sustainable incomes for Aboriginal artists, and this opportunity helps us share that story with the world.”

Buffie Punch, Noongar Artist, adds:
“I’m very proud that my artwork was selected for World Expo 2025. I’ve worked with Kirrikin since 2018 — we collaborate with love and respect, and that harmony shines through in our designs.”

A Milestone for First Nations Design

This collaboration highlights Australia’s commitment to showcasing First Nations excellence globally — through design that honours heritage, connects community, and celebrates creativity.

The Australia Pavilion staff will proudly wear Kirrikin’s uniforms throughout the six months of World Expo 2025 Osaka, beginning 13 April 2025.

As Kirrikin continues to expand its global footprint, this milestone stands as a reminder of what’s possible when art, culture, and purpose come together.
