Engaging in Global Dialogue to Elevate Indigenous Design

We were honoured to recently attend the Business News Breakfast in Perth, an event hosted by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and WA Director Sally Dawkins. This gathering brought together an incredible group of business leaders, policymakers and professionals for meaningful conversations around Australia’s role on the global stage.

A particular highlight of the event was hearing from Senator the Hon. Penny Wong, Minister for Foreign Affairs, who provided valuable insights into Australia’s foreign policy, global relationships and international priorities. Senator Wong’s remarks offered a thoughtful perspective on the complex and evolving global landscape, and the ways in which Australia continues to strengthen its engagement with international partners.

Opportunities like this are not only informative but vital for businesses like Kirrikin, which continue to build international collaborations that showcase First Nations design, storytelling and cultural exchange. As we grow our global footprint, these conversations help shape a deeper understanding of Australia’s approach to diplomacy, trade and cultural connection.

We are deeply grateful to DFAT, Sally Dawkins, and the entire team for the invitation to attend and contribute to these important conversations. Engaging with leaders who are shaping Australia’s international relationships further reinforces the significance of continuing our own work to share Indigenous art and storytelling around the world.

We look forward to participating in more forums that foster these vital conversations and create new opportunities for cross-cultural dialogue, partnership and global collaboration.
